The Harry Smith Frolic?

by

For those of you who, like me, occasionally travel to the western half of Massachusetts, I’ve added a link for Old Time Music in the Pioneer Valley. Among the events chronicled on this excellent site is last summer’s 6th Annual Harry Smith Frolic! Check out the pictures – it looks like a good time was had by all.

Also added – anticipating our week 4 meeting on Ballads – a link to a fascinating history of oral literature studies at Harvard. Frances James Child, who gave his name to the Child Ballads, spent forty years at Harvard, beginning as a tutor in mathematics and one of only fourteen faculty members. Please visit.
